There are oodles and oodles of books out there now on homeschooling. However, I’m here to tell you that Alicia’s Survival Manual is a real “must-have” for your resource shelf. One you can pull down and read over and over again. It provides real encouragement. One that gives purpose and direction to your homeschool adventure.

The Back To School Survival Manual is not written in the standard cookie-cutter, how-to fashion. It isn’t a “do this” and “do that” book that sends you off to start your journey still confused. This book opens your mind to finding your unique approach. And if you have spent any time here on this blog, you know that I am and avid supporter of finding your own unique approach to homeschool. I am always reminding my readers to not compare their style or methods with others. This may be why I thoroughly enjoy Alicia’s book.

Allow me to share with you who this Survival Manual is for.

  • It is for those considering homeschool for the future.
  • For those who have just started and need a little guidance.
  • And even for the homeschooler that has been at this journey for years and needs to breath a little fresh air into a stale homeschool environment.

It is full of expert advice from a ten-year homeschool veteran, this casual, conversational book is like chatting with a girlfriend about how to:

• build self-confidence in your homeschool’s purpose and vision
• determine what supplies you have (and what you really need)
• learn practical tips for managing daily homeschool chaos and clutter
• discover how to create a realistic learning rhythm
• get powerful tips for daily homeschool success

A survival guide for homeschool

Alicia’s book gives great insights and step by step measures to take to start your homeschool year on the right foot and with success.

One aspect of the book that really grabbed my attention and that was most helpful, was she provided links in the digital text to the related topic. As you are reading about the specific topic, there are highlighted sentences that can be clicked on. You are then directed to a post that has pure relevance to the subject. With this, you can read more on that particular topic. Thus, giving you full, in-depth knowledge of what she is discussing.

As if all the information in this fabulous book isn’t enough. The author provides some very useful tools at the end of each chapter. Additionally, Alicia has provided loads printables for you to use to help you determine your direction and to use throughout your homeschool year. Who doesn’t like organizational tools to help them along the way? I’m pretty sure the answer would be – nobody!

These valuable tools at the end of each chapter are:

  • Points to Ponder
  • Additional Info
  • Helpful Resources
  • Related Activities
