The Crafty Classroom, isn’t that a great name? What’s even better is the  USA Activity Bundle that we were so graciously given for review by them. We adore an educational yet fun activity in our homeschool. The Crafty Classroom certainly delivered. It was a great way to add a touch of American History to our summer and a fantastic way to aid in learning how to conduct research on their own.

What is The Crafty Classroom?

The Crafty Classroom is a website that is just about ALL things homeschooling. They offer so much that I can’t even begin to share it all. When you’re done reading this review of the USA Activity Bundle – I urge you to check out their other products. There are free printables, eBooks, ideas, and more!

The USA Activity Bundle.

We received the USA Activity Bundle. This bundle is comprised of 3 eBooks. (PDF format) Here are the 3 titles that make up the bundle:

{When you purchase the USA Activity Bundle this covers one family household and includes permission to print for all children in the same household.}

The State by State Activity Notebook covers all 50 United States. They can pick which state they want to learn about and work on. They will learn the location, capitol, landmarks, abbreviation, nickname, state flower, and state bird. The can also color in the state flag, state bird, and the state flower. There is also room for them to add interesting facts they have learned about that state.

Also included is the State Bird Art Cards. All the state birds are included in this eBook. They will research and learn about each state’s bird. Just like the above, the child can color the bird, true to color, and they can record any interesting facts they find in their research.

Lastly in this bundle is the 50 State Mazes. Each maze is shaped like the state they represent. This is a fun little activity to go along with each state you are learning about.

These came in PDF format and are all downloadable PDF files.

How we used it.

I started out by having each child pick which state they want to learn about first. My oldest (13) picked Hawaii, the middle child (11) picked Michigan, and the youngest (9) picked Mississippi. I printed out the designated state from each eBook; the State Activity, the State Bird, and the State Maze.

We chose to do our research online using Google, but you can use whatever US Geography books you have on hand or check out books on this topic at your local library. The information does not come with the curriculum.

We have been introducing (to the younger two) what “research” is and how to find information. We have discussed looking in books, etc. in the past and I wanted to introduce them to the world of online research. A.K.A = Google.

They had a blast using the voice activated feature Google offers to do their research on their own tablets.

These activities are simple enough for you to do with younger children and can also be enjoyed by older children who can do the research themselves. The USA Activity Bundle is not a set curriculum. I would say that it’s more intended to be used as a 50 State Unit Study or as USA Notebooking Pages.

We plan on continuing to do a state a week on as sort of a workbox style activity. We will be adding each state in order of when it was included into the union into a binder or duo tang folder. This will sharpen their independent research skills and aids as a homeschool geography curriculum. My kids found this to be fun and who am I to stop that?!

One final note!

This is such an economical resource to add to your homeschool. Only $15 for all 3 books in this bundle. I am all for economical as you can tell by the name of this blog. Not to mention that it was fun for them. Anytime you can add fun into education is a win~win!
